# 12 Discuss Reagle’s chapter 6
This sixth chapter, the benevolent dictator, was a very difficult and interesting subject. Especially, I became interested in 'Nupedia.' Nupedia was a free content encyclopedia based on the World Wide Web and where documents are written through expert validation. Nupedia is characterized by going through a peer-reviewed process of a wide-scale, and called for the production of documents comparable to other professional encyclopedias. Unlike Nupedia, Wikipedia is a little more accessible and easy to produce. Maybe the reason Nupedia was abolished since 2003 was to better express collective intelligence through the advanced format of Wikipedia? Of course, I think there is a certain portion of the dictator in Wikipedia. However, I think the effect is somewhat weak and different from noufidia in that it induces free editing.
It is a valuable project in that Nupedia pursued professionalism while being perceived as a failed project. So what if we had a more specialized version of Wikipedia at this point in time? No matter how close Wikipedia is to the encyclopedia, there is still some regret in its credibility. What do you think?
