How important is to be civil online on the internet?

Citizenship is an important virtue that people should have in their daily lives, regardless of whether they are offline or online. However, there is a reason why civic awareness is so emphasized online. The reason for this is that online space is a place that various people pass by that we cannot see in our daily lives and do not express themselves clearly.

In online, various people can share and discuss opinions regardless of nationality, age or gender. However, it is not easy to find information about each other unless they reveal each other's age or nationality themselves. Therefore, courtesy and etiquette toward each other become more important. This is because words that are uttered without any thought can hurt the other person and, by extension, can become a criminal act. Therefore, respect for each other is an essential.

If you say what you want to say online without civic awareness, public figures as well as ordinary people who are communicating with each other can get hurt. Public figures are a face-to-face job for many people, so they always appear as news stories online. Unfounded slandering to public figures on news or community sites can cause great damage to them.

As such, online for a variety of reasons, civic consciousness is important. While it is free to share one's opinions, one should always refrain from saying and doing things that can hurt others on the back of this freedom.

Here's the question. I still haven't been able to answer this argument that we've often encountered since we were children. 'How far should anonymity online be allowed?If you have some opinion please leave your comment.

    I agree with your point of view, but above all, your question was the one that most caught my attention, because in the same way I've been asking me the same thing for a long time, I think that being anonymous online we have an advantage: we are braver when commenting and try to show the world how we really are or pretend something we are not. But the biggest disadvantage is that in the same way we can cause a lot of damage, the clearest example is cyberbullying.

    The line is very thin to know if anonymity is good or not, as everything has its good part and its bad part, even so they can be located to the "anonymous" people through various tools that are usually used by the police or hakers , but while the whole process is being investigated and carried out, the affected people may suffer too much or live in fear.

    I think this topic gives a lot to talk about, but without a doubt we need more rules when using the internet to avoid harming people and create a safer and more pleasant place for everyone.
