Why do you think people use Wikipedia? Why do others write for it?

Why do you think people use Wikipedia? Why do others write for it? (Byeori Kim)

I think the biggest reason people use Wikipedia is because it is easy to get the information they want. The most appropriate example of collective intelligence being used is Wikipedia, which contains a lot of information that people have added. Because people are free to add or delete information to other people's posts, Wikipedia is added over time, or older information is deleted. That's why Wikipedia's information is always updated or added. Therefore, it is easy to get information that people edit by simply typing in a search word on Wikipedia.

Another reason why people use Wikipedia is because it has a reference of information, which allows them to quickly see if the information is reliable. If you type in a search term on Wikipedia and then go down the window to the bottom, you will find the sources of information that people have brought. Thus, those who want reliable information can identify the source of the information on Wikipedia, or get more information from it.

So why does people add information to Wikipedia? I think it is because they want to share information. People add information to Wikipedia, but at the same time they also get information from Wikipedia. In other words, the entity that produces the information also consumes the information. This allows people to exchange and interact with each other.

I think there are more reasons why people write on Wikipedia than this. Why do you think people write on Wikipedia? I want you to share your thoughts.

  1. I agree with you. A lot of information and resource make people use Wikipedia. Additionally, free permission to get information edit information and free license fee might be a other reason why people write a article on Wikipedia. That's because people don't need to worry about license or fee when they use Wikipedia!

  2. I think one of the reasons people use wiki that you didn't mention is for the sake of expression.
Everyone wants to live by expressing, and lives by doing it. Since the advent of the Internet, this phenomenon has occurred more often. Wouldn't anyone want to show off the knowledge they know and that desire have been reflected in wiki? That must be one of the many reasons for using Wiki.
