W2. My first edits. / Jina Park 박진아

My first edit was to upload a picture of Jeju Island.
Here are the reasons why I just attached a picture to the Jeju Island entry with my first edit.

1) I felt difficulty in selecting a topic.
It took a lot of time to think about 'Which topic should I choose?' In the end, I began to look for articles about my home Jeju Island that I love. Documents about Jeju Island were prepared well in English and Korean Wikipedia than I thought. So the next worry began.

2) I was afraid of editing the contents.
I thought that to edit the content, I had to have a knowledge of a certain topic. I also found it difficult to find a reliable reference. The articles related to Jeju Island seemed to have a lot of content and did not seem to be lacking. But the details about places like the tourist attractions are really poor. So I wanted to add an edit to my favorite Hamduk beach. But, "I have to create a new document at all, can I make a new document?" I was worried about. So I finally gave up making a new article.

3) Adding the pictures I took was less risky than editing the contents.

For these reasons, my first edit was to add a photo to the Jeju Island document.
The next edit was a population update on the WoDo article. There was an accurate reference called 'Jeju city homepage' and I was less afraid of editing because I was just changing the numbers.


I would like to ask you if you felt fear when you started editing.
If there is anyone who feels like me, I would like to talk about how you overcame that fear.

Discuss Reagle’s chapter 5 It is hard to understand this chapter. When I used the Wikipedia, I thought I don't need to group communication. Because the communication space is hidden, so I don't find it. I'm hard to find the communication space on Wikipedia. I think that the Wikipedia communication is not good at working in Korea. There are not many advisers on Korea Wikipedia. The Wiktionary definitions for consensus speak of “general agreement,” “without active opposition to the proposed course of action. I found it important for members to reach an agreement on Wikipedia. It's not an easy task, but I think it can produce a good results. So I think that's why Wikipedia exists. Discuss Reagle's Chapter3-4

In  the Reagle  Chapter 3-4, the troll and the ignore rules were impressive.  Troll is the one who destroys teamwork and leads the team to ruin.  Trolls, which are negative characters, help develop Wikipedia. Wikipedia finds the wrong information generated by the troll. And the information is modified by others. In that process, it results in more information production. There is an outlaw, similar to a troll. The lawless ignores all regulations, including copyright and reference. Like Trolls, they help develop Wikipedia. They are free to edit because they are out of regulation. The free edited content is modified by others, including attaching references and deleting content that is caught in copyright issues. Wikipedia develops as it takes care of these types of people.
