W3. Why do you think people use Wikipedia? Why do others write for it?
W3. Why do you think people use Wikipedia? Why do others write for it?
The main reason people use wiki is 'comprehensive definition based on accuracy.'
When we search for information, there are various potal such as blogs, news, online cafes and books. To compare characteristics, I will compare blogs, papers and wiki. When what we're looking for is a variety of personal opinions or experiences, people often find information through blogs. Conversely, we want to find out very detailed facts about a particular information through a scholarly document.
So what about wiki? I think wiki is used to find out integrated information. Think about wiki's category. It contains very comprehensive quality information, such as definitions, origins, characteristics, types, references, similar examples, and related words for a particular word or phenomenon. Therefore, wiki, which is good at various information about what you are looking for, can be popular with people. Also, Wiki's advantage is that such information is based on accuracy. This was the view of the information consumer in wiki.
So, what is the reason for the information generating people in Wiki?
What I felt when I added the information at wiki was that it was a "collection place where I could share information." Although I am a non-professional person, I have the authority to add and modify information about what I am interested in. It allowed many intellectuals of this time to be brought together in one place. Someone writes the information as needed, and someone else writes it down in wiki for fun. Wiki's feature that I can share information, no matter what motivates me, is one of the powerful reasons why the number of people who write it will continue to grow.
There will be many other reasons. But everyone has a similar view.
Is there any unusual reason or point of view that we use wiki that we don't normally think about?

I share your point of view, in both points, first I think that most people like to find everything in one place, especially if their categories are usually very complete and it also helps a lot to see the information complementary directly without having to search on another page for information. Second, I think it is very true that many of those who write on Wikipedia are people who have different motivations and what better than in a place where other intellectuals come together to unite and improve their knowledge. And trying to answer your question, I think there are many points that we can overlook, but I think the more common is what sometimes people do not appreciate the hard work that Wikipedia writers do for us, so many people do not think about how hard is create Wikipedia topics and the time that people invest in create the articles.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you. There is a lot of information on the Internet these days. There are as many information as there are, but there are many inaccurate information. I think there is a risk of information bias as blogs and cafes on certain sites are active. Like your opinion, Wikipedia seems to have the unity of this information.
