#4. After reading Article(Reagal's Chapters)

Thinking after reading about the article is difficult but it is quite interesting content. I may not understand 100%, but from what I feel I have more in-depth knowledge of Wikipedia. What impressed me most was that Wikipedia was not made as easily as chewing gum. More stakeholders (country, country, race, etc.) are intertwined, and many values have been bumped and mixed to create Wikipedia. Also, due to the integration of various technologies, Wiki's technology has developed and reached the present day. What I've enjoyed since I was impressed is the work and workmen of Wikipedia. In the last posting, chapter 1 was about "the degree of contribution" that was discussed as a topic of discussion. There was talk about the maturity of information and definitions of contributions, such as those who contributed a lot, those who contributed a little. I would like to suggest dividing this into heavy users, middle users and light users and dividing Wikipedia users by ...

#4 Good Faith Collaboration_chapter1,2

#4 Good Faith Collaboration_chapter1,2 Through Reagle's book chapter 1-2, I was able to learn about Wikipedia and its history. To be honest, it is not surprising that Wikipedia was not the first Internet encyclopedia. Before Wikipedia, there have been several attempts to share intelligence on the Internet. I learned the history of the Internet encyclopedia, and compared it with Wikipedia. In the process, I learned why Wikipedia became the 'first' and 'best' developed Internet encyclopedia. Everyone who reads the document is an easy-to-edit Wikipedia. Even non-experts can edit Wikipedia. At the end of the lessons learned from the Internet encyclopedia that existed before, Wikipedia has grown rapidly to become 'useful' within six months of its opening. It is no exaggeration to say that today's Wikipedia could have existed because there was the ups and downs of previous Internet encyclopedia. My most impressive part is that the Internet En...

W4 the edit that I have made to Wiki-Jang Keonwoo 장건우

Image
I edited some articles in wiki last week. I edited about K4 granade machine gun, DIA and Kim Kwangsoo in Korean wiki. The K4 granade machine gun is the official equipment of the ROK military. And I 've used that machine gun before, so I searched it in Korean wiki. The article had only a very brief outline. I added development history of the machine gun, montable external equipment and ammo. However, I couldn't find many reference sources because the ROk military is trying very hard to protect its security. I found the reference soures on only 2~3 published documents and S&T motive which the manufacture company of K4 machine gun.    DIA is Korean idol group. Actually, I didn't need to edit the article because many people edited it already. I read the article carefully and I found a sentence there was no reference source. It was about a member, s he is resting because of an injury. I added a news article ...

W4 About my Wekipedia edits

W4 About my Wekipedia edits(Byeori Kim) The Wikipedia theme I edited this week is information about Korean independence activist Lee Dong-nyeong. He was active during Japanese occupation. He served in the Provisional Government of the Republic of Korea and also built a school called 'Shinheung Military Academy.' What made me edit about this person is that one of the themes of my team play project is "independent activist Nam Sung-hyun." While searching for information about her, I also contacted on the Internet page about Lee Dong-nyeong, but the information about Lee Dong-nyeong was not detailed in the English Wikipedia.  The information I have added to Wikipedia is directly related to the end of Yi Dong-nyeong's life. He was active in Provisional Government of the Republic of Korea for half of his life and died of overwork on March 13, 1940. I added this information to the English version of Wikipedia.   I had an concern when I...

[#4 Assignment] My Wikipedia Edit

I edited about U-League, the Korean university soccer league, in Wikipedia. It was the 2017 version before I edited U-League, so I edited it with the latest version. For example, I edited a chart (table). I've added content to the chart about the 18 year winning team, the runner-up team and the most dominant team. What's interesting is that the Korean version of Wikipedia was covered with more details about U-League, but the English version of Wikipedia was rather poor. From now on, it would be fun to add more details and make a U-League English version of Wikipedia. However, the concern is that there is a lot of information, and because of the numbers involved in the records, I should be careful when editing them. written by Chominkook

Blog assignment 4. the edit that I have made to Wiki.

Until now, I have been using wikipedia and getting used to wikipedia. I edited wikis for broadcasts, football clubs, and Bundang cities As I was editing the football club, I was nervous because I was trying to edit the current situation, not the past because European football is still in progress. Also, when I did the reference, I found that the automation feature made it easier to write without the date and the article title, so I saved a lot of time to edit Wikipedia and edited it faster. And when I was referring to the journal, I could not copy the title of the journal, so I had to interpret it directly. Because Wikipedia is sensitive to copyright issues, it can be edited without reference and deleted at random.

W4. the edit that I have made to Wiki in last week

W4. the edit that I have made to Wiki in last week One of the writings I edited in wiki last week is "Pansori." I wrote about my first edit in this blog. As I mentioned there, I am very interested in 'Korean tradition and culture.' So all the categories I edit these days are related to this section. Many related information was written on "Pansori" because it is one of the traditional Korean music that many Koreans and foreigners are interested in. But the video of "Pansori" was not linked. So I attached an official YouTube link. I also deleted the original writing about the meaning of "Pansori". It was too brief and lacking in explanation. And I found the data and wrote a new explanation. I also explained how much traditional Korean music is worth. However, I was concerned about copyright when I attached a YouTube link. The person who filmed the performance "Pansori" uploaded it to YouTube, and I attached it to Wiki agai...

4.My edits of this week.(MaShang)

This time I made some edit on the fashion-application “Little Red Book” on Wikipedia. I added some content to introduce Little Red Book, but I overlooked a very important aspect. I could not directly copy the content extracted from other encyclopedias to Wikipedia. I found a few days later that someone re-edited my content and summarized the content I copied directly from Baidu Baike, thus avoiding the problem of plagiarism. I entered the personal homepage of the person who re-edited my edited content. He had many personal tags, one of which was “I hate copying from other encyclopedias”.          His personal tags were very interesting. For example, “the user does not want to be an webmaster”; “the user thinks that Chinese-edition Wikipedia does not need strict webmasters”; “the user thinks that Baidu’s control of its ranking and Baidu Baike hinder the development of Chinese Wikipedia”, etc. When I found that my edited content was re-edited, I was actually ...

#4. Discuss Reagal's Chapters 1-2

Jeong Seo Yoon, 정서윤 To predict the future, it is important to accumulate past knowledge. Every attempt to predict the future is excellent in itself. Whether it has failed, wrong, or not realized, it remains in the form of information to someone and becomes the foundation of another discovery and development. It is the same as verifying the null hypothesis in the statistics. Wikipedia's "Anyone" gets inspiration and records information through discussion. The stories discussed in the 1 and 2 chapters are an attempt to realize the vision of reaching global consensus in the good faith of the people. As with chapter 7 warnings, not all references are inevitably progressive. However, the existence and maintenance of Wikipedia is itself a result of human 'good'. I found the concept of "Open Conspiracy" in this article interesting. In terms of contributing to the innovation of public education, Wikipedia's existence was felt to be like the re...

[4] Discuss Reagle Chapters 1-2

Discuss Reagle Chapters 1-2     Wikipedia starts with a vision 'the free encyclopedia that anyone can edit'. From this vision, Reagle Chapters talk about some points. First, the good faith collaborative culture. Second, what the passion for global high accessibility made.    First, Wikipedia has a good faith collaborative culture. Because it has 'Wikiquette', and the rules are added and revised by Wiki people, and the love/mercy prevailed in here makes the unique culture. When people gathers in, it is likely to be a war in some cases, but with the settled rules and warmhearted people, Wiki makes the environment similar to the ideal human community-with honest argue, talk between Wiki users.   Second, Wikipedia is made with the passion for global high accessibility for information. The passion to the accessibility made more results including FOSS-Free and Open Source Software-, but as a result, Wikipedia is the most recent version of the pursuit to glo...

Discuss Reagle's Chapers 1-2

I read the Reagle Chapers 1-2. It's interested the Wiki's history and the other projects. There are many projects that sharing the information and make some new things. H. G. Wells and the “World Brain”, Project Xanadu, Project Gutenberg, Interpedia, Nupedia, GNUPedia and so on.... I wonder that many projects that make and share the information are in the history before the Wiki I'm interested the Nupedia. Nupedia was an English-language web-based encyclopedia whose articles were written by volunteer contributors with appropriate subject matter expertise, reviewed by expert editors before publication, and licensed as free content. Nupedia was better than the projects.  Because Nupedia eiditers were about 25–40% of these (or 35–56) are Ph.D.’s or otherwise clearly bona fide experts. I think that experts's edit is better than other people but Nupedia was struggling. Nupedia editorial process was so complex and difficult. I think the matter is Nupedia updatin...

4.My first edit and summary (guoyigao)

Through the last edit, I felt the fun of editing Wikipedia. I think that as I edit more times and they will keep my writing, I will like it more and more, and I am very happy with me. The last edit was retained, so I decided to continue to improve this entry.   The content of my editorial is that I have perfected the population data of Yucheng County. The Wikipedia shows the population data for 2002, and as of 2014, the population has reached 355,000 residents. So I added this data to make the project look a bit more complete. By constantly writing I feel that I should be more careful to add content. I like that they will adopt my opinion. Next time I think I will try to add some new windows.    Questions about the writing of Wikipedia: If I see the information I want to improve from other places, I have not copied them directly, but instead translated into my own ideas and wrote them, which will cause trouble. Will the owner of the entry delete my editor?

#4 Blog Assignment(Discuss the edits I have made to Wikipedia)

In the past week, I edited a lot of Wikipedia articles. So now I learn many things from Wikipedia. I am going to talk deleted my Wikipedia. From this deleted my Wikipedia, I learned 'copyright', 'image', 'copy and paste from site'. <Summarize and link to my edit> I published a Wikipedia about Oriental Brewery Company(AB Inbev) which I had worked for 6 months. I thought I could edit this article well. Recently, Oriental Brewery Company(AB Inbev) took over a The Hand Malt Brewing Company. In other words, OB expanded kinds of beers. I published that kind of information on Wikipedia with pictures and references. Like this BELGIAN DUBBEL ㅡ 7.2 ABV/ IBU 21 The Hand and Malt Belgian style Dubbel is brewed with traditional Korean Yeot (candied sugar), creating a beer that is complex and rich that has a malty sweet up front flavors with a dry and warming finish. Look for flavors and aromas of dark fruits, caramel and spice. Most of information came...

#3, Why do you think people use Wikipedia? why do others write for it

W3. Why do you think people use Wikipedia? why do others write for it Why do you think people use Wikipedia?  I think most of Wikipedia users are to get information.  I also used Wikipedia only to get information before this class.  But I can find information because many people are entering it. who are they? and why they do like that? I think Wikipedia was created using the characteristics that people want to share their knowledge and their altruism.  It was possible because many people who wanted to share knowledge gathered together to gather a lot of knowledge and interact with each other. Wikipedia is a successful example of Linus's rule " given enough eyeballs all bugs are shallow"  What is the Linus's rule? it   assume the acceptability and openness of people. Everyone should have the openness to disclose their information  With pleasure . And  It also needs to be acceptive to other people's information.  With this ass...

#3 The Scope of Wikipedia (What Wikipedia is Not?), Deletion and Notability

1) Summarize Wikipedia motto is "Imagine a world in which every single human being can freely share in the sum of all knowledge."  Wikipedia is open to everyone, but it cannot contain all the information.  That's because someone can easily delete my edits. It is said that in the case of por article, it can be deleted immediately. So what does it mean to delete from Wikipedia? It means nonsense, advertising, spam, vadalism, hoaxes, copyright validation, content operations.   In addition, the same case of personal opinion is subject to deletion.  The professor's data says, Wikipedia is not a place for primary research, opinion pieces or personal or personal essays.  2) Interesting As I mentioned earlier, anyone can edit on Wikipedia, but someone can easily delete my edits.  If it's a good article, my edited article will remain. But if it's a bad article, my editing will be deleted by someone. By the way, what are the criteria for good and...

Why do you think people use Wikipedia? Why do others write for it?

I think one of the main reasons why people use Wikipedia is because of the high number of references that it contains in its articles, not only based on a single source, but it has several links, books or magazines in which they are based on the articles. Being able to read an article in which many people collaborate and knowing that they update it from time to time gives you some security when using or learning the information from there, because you know that there is a team behind that seeks a common good and that they themselves would not allow that the information is false or incorrect, besides that we can corroborate the references and if we need more information from some part we can easily access it by having all the links registered, which means that we as Wikipedia users can use the information with more easily without having to do dozens of searches. We should also not forget that it is free and nobody in their right mind rejects free information, especially if it i...

Why do you think people use Wikipedia? Why do others write for?(MaShang)

In my opinion, the reason why Wikipedia has so many users and high popularity in the world and many people as well as groups have made contributions to it is that it has more special features than other websites of the same type. I would like to list a few of them for explanation. "We are not for sale."      Wikipedia is run by a non-profit organization. The sources of funding for its website maintenance are crowdfunding, donations, etc. Moreover, it has strict control over entries that are commercial and promotional, so there are no advertisements on Wikipedia. Its founder Wales said, “Once we run advertisements, we can expect a large number of people to stop making contribution to entries or articles. Imagine how our credibility will be affected if readers open Wikipedia’s article on “coffee” and the information they can find first is the link to Starbucks. What kind of influence might advertisers or advertisement sellers have on our content? Even a perception of...

W3. Why people use and write wikipedia? / Jina Park 박진아

W3. Why people use and write wikipedia? / Park Jina 박진아 People who use Wikipedia are divided into two categories. (1) People who get information. (2) People who get and add information. The reason why (1)people use Wikipedia is clear. Wikipedia is currently the largest international online encyclopedia. Plus it's free and easy to use. Why do (2)people use Wikipedia? Why are people doing things that they can not afford to get any economic benefits while investing their personal time? Those who edit Wikipedia articles, discuss various topics, and respond to others' questions in "Help Desk(https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Help_desk)" are just doing it because it is fun and worthwhile. I thought about this topic and decided to look at Wikipedia in a more economical way. There is an economics term called 'externality(https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Externality)'. Briefly, individuals and companies consider only their own costs or benefit...

#3. Why do you think people use Wikipedia? Why do others write for it?

Jeong Seo Yoon  2015048031  Advances in technology have enabled us to share knowledge in real time. Wikipedia is a community that combines technological advancements with democratic debating methods. I thought about the reasons why Wikipedia exists and can be maintained. Why people use Wikipedia? 1. Wikipedia has gone through numerous attempts and won its own credibility with minimal rules. "Unlike regular encyclopedias such as Britannica, Wikipedia has a belief in the system's characteristics that the correction process is quick and easy and can reduce errors."  ( Liedbeater, C. (2009) ≪집단 지성이란 무엇인가≫ (이순희 옮김), 21세기북스.  2008/2009, p59)   Countless people who edit and use Wikipedia naturally feel part of the community and try to preserve it. With this effort, many people recognize Wikipedia as an encyclopedia and use it as a basis for development and discovery.  2. Advances in technology have made me accustomed to using the...

#3 The scope of Wikipedia and how it's written and used

1. Summary 1-1)  Wikipedia Motto describes it as 'Imagine a world in which every single human being can be free share in the sum of all knowledge. However, Wikipedia does not accept all the information as it is. That's why people who use or edit Wikipedia should have an accurate understanding of the scope of Wikipedia's acceptance. Anything beyond the permissible range is subject to deletion. For example, “nonsense, advertising/spam, vandalism and hoaxes, copyright violation/plagiarism, content forks, original research, lack of verifiable, reliable sources, lack of notability, any other content not suitable for an encyclopedia”. Because there are some rules that are free, Wikipedia should not be considered as an 'unconditionally free place to express opinions. 1-2) I knew that there were many people who used Wikipedia since the first lecture. In this lecture, we took a closer look at information about the users. Fifty-nine percent were from 17 to 40. In d...

W3. Why do you think people use Wikipedia? Why do others write for it?

W3. Why do you think people use Wikipedia? Why do others write for it? The main reason people use wiki is 'comprehensive definition based on accuracy.' When we search for information, there are various potal such as blogs, news, online cafes and books. To compare characteristics, I will compare blogs, papers and wiki. When what we're looking for is a variety of personal opinions or experiences, people often find information through blogs. Conversely, we want to find out very detailed facts about a particular information  through a scholarly document .  So what about wiki? I think wiki is used to find out integrated information. Think about wiki's category. It contains very comprehensive quality information, such as definitions, origins, characteristics, types, references, similar examples, and related words for a particular word or phenomenon. Therefore, wiki, which is good at various information about what you are looking for, can be popular with people. Also, Wiki...

Why do you think people use Wikipedia? Why do others write for it?

Why do you think people use Wikipedia? Why do others write for it? So many people use Wikipedia. Including me, I often use Wikipedia to get information. There are two reasons for it. We can get a lot of information even new information through Wikipedia easily without fee. As much as Wikipedia information, we can get a lot of reference from Wikipedia. For these reasons, many people still use Wikipedia. First of all, Wikipedia is very famous and popular website in the world. In other words, Wikipedia is useful and easy to most of people. There is no permission fee and weird advertisement. Even now people upload new information on online and ask some questions on it. Through Wikipedia, I can get a lot of information even new information. Also, it is easy to share information because there is no license fee and copyright, which I use for knowledge. In addition, so many reference is classified well in Wikipedia. Getting a good source or reference is very hard. However, I can get a l...

Why do you think people use Wikipedia? Why do others write for it?

Why do you think people use Wikipedia? Why do others write for it? (Byeori Kim)  I think the biggest reason people use Wikipedia is because it is easy to get the information they want. The most appropriate example of collective intelligence being used is Wikipedia, which contains a lot of information that people have added. Because people are free to add or delete information to other people's posts, Wikipedia is added over time, or older information is deleted. That's why Wikipedia's information is always updated or added. Therefore, it is easy to get information that people edit by simply typing in a search word on Wikipedia.  Another reason why people use Wikipedia is because it has a reference of information, which allows them to quickly see if the information is reliable. If you type in a search term on Wikipedia and then go down the window to the bottom, you will find the sources of information that people have brought. Thus, those who want reliable informati...

[3] Why do you think people use Wikipedia

<Why do you think people use Wikipedia? Why do others write for it?>   Why do people use Wikipedia? Needed few minutes to come up with some thoughts.   First, The biggest, and most massive collective intelligence's exposure comes from Wikipedia. So the information's mass is very big with various types. The thing that we can't find at dictionary may exist in Wikipedia. Something that is not able to find in the internet may exist in Wikipedia-since Wikipedia can also use some citations from books or journals.    Second, Wikipedia is easy! Wikipedia edits are usually made by normal people-not sort of experts-, so the words and the sentence structures are relatively more easier than some papers or books written by experts. So the accessibility increases significantly, breaking the restrictions coming from age. Even their are some professional words and expressions, Wiki is also very kind with references and citations, so we can easily infer or understa...

#3.Why do you think people use Wikipedia? Why do others write for it.(guoyigao)

I think the reason many people use Wikipedia is because of his comprehensiveness. Wikipedia accepts people from all over the world to edit and share their knowledge. People from all over the world are showing their knowledge and their own language on Wikipedia. This is a very big project. It also represents the amount of information on Wikipedia is very huge. Wikipedia now has more than 30 million entries and more than 280 languages. It contains a variety of cultures, customs and materials from around the world. So people will use Wikipedia to find some information. I think that because people create and write entries on Wikipedia without going through a tedious review, people can easily modify and write, and it's very easy to get a sense of accomplishment. Slowly became a habit. Just like your own work. And many scholars also choose to write some knowledge and materials in order to enrich their social knowledge. Because of the convenience of Wikipedia, many scholars will also...

blog assignment3: Why do you think people use Wikipedia? Why do others write for it?

Why do you think people use Wikipedia? Why do others write for it?   As we all know,Wikipedia is an online encyclopedia project. Features free content,  free editing. It is currently the largest and most popular reference tool on the global network and is ranked among the top 10 most popular websites in the world.Wikipedia allows users who visit the site to freely view and modify the content of most pages. The total number of editors for the entire site has exceeded  1 billion. Because Wikipedia is able to sort out the information related to recent events very quickly, and anyone can dig deeper into the data content, many people are gradually considering Wikipedia as a news source. At the same time, in order to facilitate the general students or the masses to understand the contents of the entries, most of the entries in Wikipedia explain the complex concepts in simple  words.Wikipedia is available in multiple languages and can see different perspectiv...

blog assignment 3. wikis and internet 2.0

summary Wikipedia is part of web 2.0. Web sites allow individuals to contribute and interact with their content. Other web 2.0 includes social networking sites and blog video sharing. Web 1.0 made it impossible for users to interact with each other on the Web site. So users have chosen to send emails to authors or authorities. Web 2.0 has become an important force in changing our culture and allowing people to participate without limit. Things like Google and Naver intellectuals can be a kind of web 2.0. The advantage of web 2.0 is that many people participate and share information with each other. It is a form of collective intelligence. interesting facebook, flicker, google, twitter etc .. These started to develop in the 2000s. It was similar to the time when the Internet began to revive. In Korea, however, we started to use facebook, flicker, google, twitter etc in 2010. discussion Naver intellectuals are using a lot of people in our country, but in fact, they are...
