[3] Why do you think people use Wikipedia
<Why do you think people use Wikipedia? Why do others write for it?>
Why do people use Wikipedia? Needed few minutes to come up with some thoughts.
First, The biggest, and most massive collective intelligence's exposure comes from Wikipedia. So the information's mass is very big with various types. The thing that we can't find at dictionary may exist in Wikipedia. Something that is not able to find in the internet may exist in Wikipedia-since Wikipedia can also use some citations from books or journals.
Second, Wikipedia is easy! Wikipedia edits are usually made by normal people-not sort of experts-, so the words and the sentence structures are relatively more easier than some papers or books written by experts. So the accessibility increases significantly, breaking the restrictions coming from age. Even their are some professional words and expressions, Wiki is also very kind with references and citations, so we can easily infer or understand the meaning. And for the good readability-like well structured contents block or visual points-, it helps Wiki to be more easier.
For the last, the point that Wikipedia is a social commerce. Wikipedia has a system which allows people to freely talk with certain topics or people. You can have a discussion with some of them, or ask something you don't know to someone-moreover you can also make a user page as your private place. The thing that makes us feel connected and at the same time private is the attractive point of Wikipedia.
Would there be some other reason's that I didn't came up with? If there are, I would like to hear your views and points. Or it would be good to discuss about the word 'easy'. Wikipedia is very easy to see and read, but maybe a little harsh to the one who wants to try to edit the article at first. Do you think Wikipedia's UI system is easy to recognize and apply?

ReplyDeleteI read your article well. I think another reason why people use Wikipedia is because it has a specific source of information, which allows them to quickly see if the information is reliable. If you type in a search term on Wikipedia and then go down the window to the bottom, you can see the sources of information that people have brought. Thus, those who want reliable information can identify the source of the information on Wikipedia. Also people want more information they can click the link of the reference and earn more specific information about there search term.

I agree with your opinion. Indeed, free permission can be a reason why people use Wikipedia. That's because we can escape worry from license. It is a significant benefit. I think Wikipedia's UI system is well organized. When I make a article, the table of contents is classifed automatically. This system is really awesome. But I am not familar with Wikipedia apply system so it is little hard.
